Cornwall Young Democrats:
Our Mission
The Cornwall Young Democrats are a group of young adults in the Cornwall Central School District area who are looking to initiate change in the local and national community by way of political activism. Our mission is based around the three main principles of Advocacy, Active Participation in Democracy, and Inclusivity.
Advocacy
The Cornwall Young Dems are student voices advocating for students— namely adequate funding for public education and students’ rights.
We are also advocates for women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and bridging economic equality.
Active Participation in Democracy
We are striving to make our generation politically active by the time we come of voting age and later become the dominant demographic influencing the polls.
We believe in and actively contribute to maximizing voter turnout, especially in the youth demographic.
We believe strongly in the importance of educated and informed voting.
Inclusivity
All youth are welcome to become members of the Cornwall Young Dems, regardless of race, class, sex, gender, religion, sexual orientation.
Being open-minded and nonjudgmental are two values that are fundamental to the Cornwall Young Dems.
Teens who are curious about Democratic politics and politics in general are welcome: we encourage and actively educate ourselves each meeting about Democratic politics and current events/policy. There is no embarrassment in wanting to start learning!
